Fall Schedule: September 20 - Bees and Butterflies Search for bees and butterflies and take home bee food (a flowering plant). October 18 - Spider safari Turn over logs and rocks and see how many spiders we can find! November 15 - Turkey Tails and Tales Search for turkeys and other birds and do an art projcet. Trail Tamers Workdays 2018

Trail Tamers monthly work parties tackle specific stewardship projects like building a bridge or clearing a section of trail. They’re scheduled for the third Thursday of each month, May through October, with some family-friendly Saturday events to be determined. As the inevitable additional projects arise we’ll also schedule special work events. Signing up will put you on the e-mail notice list for notifications. Volunteers may join us for one workday or many. Kids under 18 with adult supervision are welcome at all Trail Tamers events. Take the Challenge to Keep Maine’s Waters Clean! As part of International Coastal Cleanup Week, Damariscotta River Association, Pemaquid Watershed Association and kNOw S.U.P. are partnering to clean up Pemaquid Beach. We hope you'll join us and other local volunteers for this effort. All are welcome! Bring work gloves, and meet at Pemaquid Beach. All trash collected will be sorted so that data can be compiled for ongoing ocean research.

A regular program for homeschool families and groups. These classes are held 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon the fourth Monday of each month (except October and December). A hike and nature journaling are always included. Prepay for five classes and get a sixth class free. For ages 5 and up (younger may come). Fee: $5.00/child.  Call DRA to register. Back by popular demand! Mycologist Greg Marley will focus on the identification of mushrooms commonly found in Maine, and discuss both edible and medicinal uses of local mushrooms.The class will begin indoors with photos and identification of fresh mushrooms, then venture outdoors to discover mushrooms “in the wild” at a site to be determined. Participants are encouraged to bring mushrooms they’ve collected themselves as well as any questions. A lunch, water bottle, collection basket, and field guide are also recommended. Migration Mini Camp October 5, 8:30 a.m.– 3:30 p.m. (AOS 93 schools closed). For children ages 6-11. Play migratory hopscotch, make clay animals, and go on a migration safari to look for birds, dragonflies, monarchs and more! Participants will need to bring snacks, lunch, and waterproof boots. Pre-registration is due one week before the session starts, although earlier registration is recommended as these sessions tend to fill up quickly. Fee: $50, or $45 for members at the Mussel level or above.
