Hands-On Nature for Young Children

A monthly hands-on nature program, offered September through June, for preschool children and a caregiver. Each class includes a song or story, a hike, and often a craft. These classes are held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. the third Thursday of each month. Participants may prepay for five classes and get a sixth class free. Fee: $3.00/child. Call DRA to register, 207-563-1393.

Fall Schedule:

September 20 – Bees and Butterflies Search for bees and butterflies and take home bee food (a flowering plant).
October 18 – Spider safari Turn over logs and rocks and see how many spiders we can find!
November 15 – Turkey Tails and Tales Search for turkeys and other birds and do an art projcet.
December 20 – Red Fox, Grey Fox Touch a fox skull and look for fox signs on the trail.
