Jr. Naturalists After-School Program (Grades 1-5)
After-school Inquiry-based, hands-on learning in a safe outdoor environment. Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 p.m (month-long sessions) for grades 1-5. Fee: $55 non-members /$50 members at “Mussel” level or above. Scholarships are available. Program held at DRA Great Salt Bay Farm, 110 Belvedere Road. It is on bus routes from Nobleboro and Great Salt Bay elementary schools.
Scholarships are available for all programs.
January – Wildlife in Winter: Search for animal dens, build shelters, learn about animal signs.
February – Winter Wonderland: Go snowshoeing, dogsledding and explore a winter wonderland!
March – Terrific Trees! Tap maple trees and try sap, explore the forests, and make art projects.
April – Wild Wetlands: Go marsh mucking for invertebrates, take an amphibian walk, and more!
May – Animals on the Move: Search for elvers (baby eels), watch warblers, and observe horseshoe crabs spawning.
